20 Months Old

Bret is turning out to be a very loving, energetic and stubborn child! He's definitely got a soft side - if you get hurt, he'll hug and kiss your boo-boo :), but underneath that softie there's a toughie. He grabs things out of my hand, yells at me when he's not happy and gives me some rotten faces. It's actually kind of funny sometimes. I try not to laugh but you know how that goes.....He's got some new words - mine, wow and yellow (sort of - he says "lellow"). I love when he says wow. Whenever he sees something big or interesting he shouts wow!!! It's hilarious.

*Disclaimer* - this is the part where I am going to get mushy and brag about my kid.

Jason and I are so extremely lucky and grateful to have such a wonderful child. We get so many compliments about Bret's good behavior in public (obviously he's a kid and he has his devilish moments) and his overall disposition. I don't know what we did but Bret is an awesome kid. There are some days when I look at him I just want to kiss him until I stop breathing, hold him like he's 2 months old again and cry because my baby is getting so big. He's my big boy *sniff sniff* :) I want him to be this age forever.

Prenatal appointment #4

Weight gain since last appointment: 3 lbs

Heartbeat: 156

All the measurements (head, belly, arms/legs, etc) are normal.

Bret is having a baby BROTHER :)

He cooperated very well and showed us a nice image of his weiner. LOL

We are so excited! Now I get the wonderful opportunity to pick out the furniture, bedding, curtain and decor!! YAY

I have two names that I REALLY, REALLY like....hopefully Jason will like one of them (cross your fingers).

Pregnancy update

Not too much to update....We find out what we're having tomorrow!! I CANNOT WAIT! I think Jason and I have decided to keep it a secret. I don't know for sure. I'm just excited to start thinking about names, bedroom decor, furniture, etc!! Let's get this thing rolling.

I've started getting heartburn already. UGH. I had it with Bret but don't remember when it started. I didn't take anything for it (TUMS, etc) and I won't this time either. I'm just trying to drink a lot more water and milk. That seemed to help last time. Still sticking to my 3-mile/day walks. I wish I could do more but Bret is getting to be a "big boy" and doesn't like to sit in his stroller for long periods of time.

More to talk about tomorrow :)

Back to reality!

Charleston was a blast! I love the beach - simply put. Bret was a MEGA-champ with the drive. We left around his nap time and drove for about 3 -3.5 hours then stopped for dinner and to let him walk around. We drove for another 3 hours or so and let him run around then got him ready for "bed" and drove the rest of the way. We got into Charleston around 4am-ish on Saturday. Bret couldn't get enough of the sand and beach....he loved the buckets / shovels / rakes to play with and LOVED knocking down every single sandcastle that Jason and I made for him. The ocean was a bit different. He didn't mind sticking his feet into the water but the waves scared him a little. He wouldn't let us carry him into the water. Maybe next time!!

Since it was about 90 degrees every day, we took a break from the sun on Thursday and went to the aquarium. It was fun but I was just a wee bit disappointed. Not too many big fish on exhibit - a lot of small fish though. The one thing that I thought was super cool was the 57 ft high salt water tank with a TON of different fish (and sharks). There was even a scuba diver in the tank waving at Bret. He had no idea what to think about that. He kept giving us this puzzled look and turning up his hands - like saying "what the heck?"

Jason and I were kind of nervous about how well Bret was going to sleep since he doesn't like his Pack N Play. I bought some memory foam, hoping that would make it more comfortable, and put a fitted sheet over it. He slept great! I was so happy. He did really well with his naps and slept all night. WOOO HOOO

All I know is that the week flew by. I can't wait to do it again!! Because the vacation was so expensive we're rethinking the St. Louis trip. We may stick closer to home - like Cleveland - this year. We'll see.

Checking out

Today we're leaving for Charleston, SC for 10 days to relax and visit Jason's brother, Jeff. The only thing that would make this vacation better is if I could drink :)

I am so excited to lay on the beach and do nothing for over a week......ah......

Fun times

For Justin's birthday, a big group of us went to the Toledo Mudhens game. We had a friggin' ball. It was so much fun. A cousin works for the Mudhens doing promotional stuff in between innings and she got Justin to participate in a contest. He had to throw 3 out of 4 balls through a hole to win some prize (we don't even know what it was). Well, needless to say, he had been drinking for a while and got one ball through. His prize: 32 oz of the worst tasting potato chips I have ever eaten. HA HA HA.

We definitely don't hang out enough with Justin. He's awesome - and Bret just loves him. This picture sums up the night.
