Baby's heart rate: 145
Weight gain: 3LBS
Blood pressure: 120/50
I found out today that I tested positive for Strep B back in March and didn't even know about it. I tested negative when I was pregnant with Bret. Strange....I thought you either had it or don't. I wish DRs would share test results a little more freely. I was expecting to get tested today and get my first pelvic exam but for some reason I didn't....Dang it - I shaved my legs and everything. My exams will start next week.
Had an ultrasound too - baby looks great. His development is one day off from my due date. Pretty good, I'd say. He's about 6 LBS right now. And yes, I asked the technician to make sure we were still having a boy :)
I predict that he'll be born on October 12; Bret says October 15....we'll see who is closer.

Alanna, you're a genius
My poor kid was more than likely freezing his @$$ off every night and that's why he wasn't sleeping...ever since I closed his windows and put warmer pj's on him, he has stayed in his bed all night long :)
I guess I'm the wrong person to gauge temperature right now...coming from a 9-month pregnant lady that sleeps in a t-shirt, no covers and is still sweating at night. UGH.....hormones are a b!tch.
Sorry Bret :)

Sleeping issues
For the past 4 or 5 weeks Bret has been having problems sleeping at night. I don't know if he has nightmares or if he senses a change coming or what....He sleeps great during his nap but it's a different story at night. We started the terrible habit of bringing him into bed with us and it's getting out of control.
Here is an example of what happens (3 or 4 X a week):
Go through the same routine EVERY night
Put him in bed
He whines a bit or sometimes even cries (which is not typical for him)
Falls asleep
In the middle of the night, I hear him either crying, whining or talking...saying stuff like "mine", "no", "mama", "dada", "go". Really funny but weird at the same time. I don't know if he's sleeping or not because I don't want to disturb him if he is
If he is awake then I try to keep him in his bed by rubbing his back or shushing him...if that doesn't work then I cave in and bring him into bed with us
I don't know what's going on and I don't know what else to do at 3 or 4am to keep him in his own bed. Especially when the baby comes home and is in a bassinet right next to our bed. I don't want Bret to be in our bed and for the baby to wake him up when it's time for a feeding.
Any advice?

Prenatal appointment #8
Last uneventful appointment :)
Weight gain: 1 lb
The nurse didn't share my blood pressure
Heartbeat: 137
Next appointment in 2 weeks and I'll be tested for Strep B and check for progress!! Down to the wire :)
The baby's room is painted and furniture is in. All I have to do is start washing clothes and pull out the bouncy seat, car seat, pump, bassinet, burp clothes, monitor, bottles, milk storage bags, etc......I almost forgot how much we packed away after Bret "grew up"!!
I am so excited to get this all going!! I predict October 12. We'll see how close I am. Jason says the 28th but there is NO WAY I will be going past my due date. I know my DR won't let me since I'm borderline gestational diabetic.
Bring on the sleepless nights!!

Prenatal appointment #7
Today, like the past few appointments, was pretty uneventful. I would love to charge people $142 for a 5 minute visit. Unbelievable.
Baby heart rate: 143
My blood pressure: 110/50
Lost 2 lbs (probably because I'm still not feeling very well)
Baby's head is down :)
I go back in two weeks and I'll be checked for Strep B in four weeks. I was negative with Bret but that doesn't mean I don't have it this time.
Jason and I agreed on a paint color - Olympic brand (NO VALSPAR) - "cornmeal"....It reminds me of buff :) We pick up the furniture on Saturday AM so I am SUPER-DEDUPER excited to get this room put together. It'll truly sink in that baby #2 is on his way when the crib is in the room with the sheets on it.....YAYYYY

Cider mill season is almost here!!! YAY :)
I've been doing a lot of research on cider mills around my area (NW OH). I've decided to make this fall very fun for Bret (and me/Jason) because I know I'm going to feel super guilty once Baby #2 is born.
I am determined to take Bret to a cider mill/apple orchard every week in September, up until the baby is born. I've picked 4 or 5 so far!
If any of the Detroit girls are planning on a trip somewhere around there, then let me know! Bret and I would love to tag along!!

Bret's birthday party plans
Jason and I have decided to have Bret's birthday party a month early. We agreed that having Bret's birthday party with a 1 - 3 week old would be sort of overwhelming.
We plan on a small gathering of family - nothing like his 1st birthday that's for sure - of about 15 people and about 5 or 6 kids. I have the invitations picked out and I'm debating whether or not to order his cake from the same bakery that did our wedding cake. It'll be a little more than I want to pay for a 2-year old's birthday cake but the bakery does such an awesome job. Most of the food will be ordered / catered with the exception of a few side dishes. I am taking the easy way out on this one; even though I don't want to because I LOVE to entertain / cook.
Since the party is going to be at the beginning of October, I thought it would be a good idea to rent a moonwalk/bouncey thing for the kids (ages 2 - 6). Jason says no because there's only going to be 2 or 3 kids that are "old enough" to bounce without supervision. Jason thinks it would be a good idea to do it next year. What do you think?
Bret's present from us will be a battery-powered truck - he's been loving the ones he rides at his cousin's house....shhhh, don't tell him :)
